Application terms.

A buy-once license covers the purchased major version and its released updates. A future major upgrade is optional. Prices, device limits, and any trial period must be shown before payment. Paid checkout is not yet available.

1. Scope

This license applies to Island's proprietary application components, including the application shells, domain core, plugin host, Market, and management CLI, and to other first-party material not expressly licensed separately. The root LICENSE file identifies the open-source exceptions. Each third-party component retains its own license, copyright notices, and applicable source obligations.

2. Source code

No permission to copy, modify, distribute, sublicense, sell, or create derivative works of proprietary source code is granted by its availability. Such permission requires a separate written agreement with the relevant copyright holders. Access to a repository is not a source-code license.

3. Official application binaries

An official binary may be used under the evaluation permission provided with that release or a valid commercial entitlement supplied by Island. An installer, Homebrew cask, download link, or activation key for an open-source plugin does not itself grant a paid entitlement to the proprietary application.

A paid perpetual license grants the purchaser a non-exclusive right to install and run the purchased major version for personal or business use on the number of devices stated at checkout or in the order confirmation. It does not transfer ownership of the application. Keep reasonable backup copies and transfer an activation between your own devices within the purchased device limit.

4. Buy-once purchases and updates

A one-time purchase is not a recurring subscription. The right to use the purchased major version does not expire merely because a newer version is released. Updates made available within that major version are included. A future major version may be sold separately; upgrading is optional. Perpetual use does not promise perpetual support, future operating-system compatibility, every future major version, or third-party/cloud services.

Price, device count, any evaluation period, and any separately included services must be disclosed before payment. This document does not announce an available checkout or activate a trial. A payment-service outage alone does not terminate an otherwise valid paid license. A full refund or reversed purchase ends the entitlement associated with that purchase, subject to applicable law.

5. Redistribution and restrictions

Package managers may publish installation recipes that link to the publisher's official, unmodified binary downloads and preserve the accompanying notices. This does not authorize repackaging, mirroring, resale, sublicensing, sharing activation credentials, or bypassing application licensing without permission. Do not modify proprietary components or reverse engineer them except to the extent permitted by applicable law. These restrictions do not apply to rights granted independently by an open-source or third-party license, including applicable interoperability or relinking rights.

6. Plugins and independent services

Open-source plugins and SDK components remain usable, modifiable, and redistributable under their respective licenses, including for commercial use. They may be used with independently developed compatible hosts. Their licenses do not depend on buying Island. Third-party plugins and services may have separate terms, fees, availability, and permissions. No trademark or endorsement rights are granted by this license.

7. Earlier releases and other rights

This policy does not revoke, narrow, or replace any rights already granted for copies or contributions previously released under MIT or another license. Previously licensed material remains subject to those earlier grants; applicable notices must be retained. New proprietary contributions do not convert separately licensed material into exclusively proprietary work. Repository visibility changes do not retract earlier public copies.

8. Mandatory rights and warranty

Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer rights, statutory remedies, or rights that applicable law does not allow a contract to restrict. Purchases also remain subject to the refund information disclosed at checkout and mandatory refund rights. Subject to those rights and any express written warranty, proprietary material is provided "AS IS", without implied warranties, and its copyright holders disclaim liability to the extent permitted by law.

Open-source components.

The first-party plugins, plugin API, SDK, shared design library, and public plugin specifications use the MIT license. You can use them with independent compatible hosts. Third-party assets and dependencies retain their original licenses; trademarks remain with their owners.
